(Via Gamasutra)Sega confirmed on Friday that it has closed its internal Sega Studios San Francisco development house, the group behind the development of both Iron Man movie tie-in games as well as 2008’s Golden Axe: Beast Rider. Rumors of the closure had been swirling in industry circles earlier this week. An official statement released today reads, “Sega of America is sad to announce the closure of Sega Studios San Francisco.” You are SEGA. Does this decision reflect your future level of involvement in software development?
Sega and High Voltage Software said Wednesday they are teaming up once again for Conduit 2, a Wii-exclusive first-person shooter follow-up to the 2009 original, which Sega also published. Sega of America VP of marketing Sean Ratcliffe called Conduit 2 an “enormous sequel.” He added, “Not only does it greatly improve and expand on the original, the online and co-op play modes aim to raise the bar for Wii war games.” You are Sean Ratcliffe. We just discussed development, but is SEGA beginning to shift more toward the publishing side of things?
KILLING BLOW: You are the gaming community. Given SEGAs failure to market the Dreamcast and add to that recent software shortcomings, would you ever consider supporting them in the future console space?
