Each Monday, The Gamesmen will feature each weapon class from the upcoming online multiplayer Wii title, Monster Hunter Tri, through consecutive weeks all the way up to its April 20th release. The posts will include a short synopsis, Wii controls scanned from the demo “manual”, and a short video showcasing the weapons. The featured weapon this week is the newest addition to the Monster Hunter family- the Switchaxe.
The Monster Hunter Wiki (http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/) states that the Switchaxe is a new weapon featured in Monster Hunter Tri. It consists of two forms: Axe and Sword. In Axe mode, it’s mobility is kin to that of a Long Sword. While in Sword mode it is reduced to the speed of a Great Sword. The time spent in Sword mode is limited to an energy meter found under the Sharpness indicator. Once this energy bar is depleted, the weapon will change back into Axe form and will need to be reloaded before going back into Sword form.
Each Switch Axe carries a different coating in Sword mode. The different coatings are “Power Coating”, “Paralysis Coating”, “Element Enchancement”, and “Dragon Element”. There are 8 primary Switch Axe trees and 9 final weapon forms (not including alternative sub trees).
